Global Search
Global search lets you decide the boundary yourself. One country, several, a single city, or no geographic limit at all.
It is a genuinely different way to use a dating platform, and it works better when you understand what the filters do, and what no filter can tell you.
Choosing your scope
Start by deciding how far you are actually willing to go. Not aspirationally: practically.
Nearby. A radius from where you are. Best if you want to meet within weeks rather than months.
City. One city and its surroundings. Useful if you are moving somewhere, or know the place well.
Region. A state, province or county. Wider than a city, narrower than a country: good where a country is large and a single city is too narrow.
Country. Everyone discoverable in a country. Useful when you are open to the country but not tied to one part of it.
Global. No geographic limit.
There is no correct answer. But being honest with yourself about distance saves everyone's time, including people who would rather not invest in a conversation with someone who was never realistically going to travel.
The filters, and what each one is actually telling you
Country
Which country a member's location is set to. Someone may be temporarily elsewhere, or have indicated travel plans.
Region and City
Narrows within a country. Coverage varies: larger cities generally have more members than smaller ones, which is a fact about population rather than about the platform.
Distance
Approximate distance from your location. It is deliberately imprecise. Nobody's exact position is exposed, including yours.
Age range
Members must be 18 or over. Age is self-reported and confirmed at sign-up. Report any profile you believe belongs to a minor immediately.
Gender preference
Who you want to see. MingleExtra is for adults of all genders and orientations.
Relationship intention
What each member says they are looking for. The most useful filter on the platform, because incompatible intentions are the most common reason conversations fail, and the easiest to spot in advance.
Languages
Languages a member says they speak. In global search this matters more than people expect. A conversation conducted through translation is possible, but slower and more prone to misunderstanding.
Interests
Shared activities and subjects. Good for starting conversations, less reliable as a compatibility signal than people assume.
Lifestyle
Everyday details members choose to share. Entirely optional to state and to filter on.
Education and occupation
Self-reported. Neither is verified, and neither predicts whether you will get on.
Smoking and drinking preferences
Stated preferences. Some people filter strictly on these; others do not use them at all.
Children preferences
Whether someone has children, and what they want in future. Often decisive, and better established early than late.
Verification status
Filters toward members who have completed checks. Read the limits below before relying on this.
Recently active
Filters toward members who have used the platform recently. Frequently the most practical filter of all: an ideal profile that has not been opened in eight months is not going to reply.
Travel destination
Members who have indicated they are visiting somewhere, or plan to.
What filters cannot do
Filters narrow. They do not evaluate.
You can match someone on every criterion and find you have nothing to talk about. You can match on almost none and speak for three hours. Filters remove noise so you can find people worth reading about: they are not a compatibility score, and the platform does not present them as one.
Two practical points:
Over-filtering is the most common mistake. Every filter you add removes people, and some of them would have been a good match. If results are thin, widen something before concluding there is nobody out there.
Verification status is not a safety filter. It confirms a check was completed. It says nothing about intent. Filtering to verified profiles only does not make financial caution less necessary.
What global search is actually like
Worth setting expectations, because international dating is frequently oversold.
Time zones are the real friction. An eight-hour difference means one of you is always messaging at an awkward hour. It is manageable, and it is a genuine constraint.
Language shapes everything. Even with a shared language, humour, tone and directness differ. Assume good intent when something reads oddly.
Distance costs money and time. Meeting means flights, visas, leave from work. Establish early whether both of you are actually in a position to do that.
It takes longer. A local connection can meet on Saturday. An international one may be months away. People who understand that at the start do better than people who discover it at week three.
Not everyone is looking for the same thing. Some members want a long-distance relationship, some want someone to know when they travel, some are curious. None of those is wrong; all of them are worth stating plainly.
Safety in global search
Distance changes the risk profile. Everything in the Safety Center applies, and three things matter more:
Nobody should ask you for money. Ever. Not for a flight, a visa, a fee, a family emergency, a customs charge or an investment. This is the most common fraud in international dating, and it can come from someone using genuine photos and holding a verification badge. There is no version of this that is legitimate.
You cannot rely on local context. You may not be able to judge whether a story, a place or a job sounds plausible. That makes verification, video calls and consistency more important, not less.
Video call before you invest emotionally. Someone unwilling to video call after weeks of conversation, with a reason each time, is telling you something.
Keep exact locations private. Your address, workplace and daily routine are not conversation material with someone you have never met.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to search globally?
No. You can set a small radius and never leave it. Global search is an option, not a default.
Can I search several countries at once?
Yes. You can select multiple countries, or search without a geographic limit.
Is MingleExtra available in every country?
No. Availability, features, verification methods and payment options vary by country and are subject to local law. [COUNTRY AVAILABILITY LIST REQUIRED]
Does global search cost extra?
Free accounts can browse globally. The full filter set and higher daily limits are Premium.
Why are there few results in a country I searched?
Membership varies by place. Widening the age range, distance or relaxing filters usually helps. We do not publish member counts by country, because a flattering number that disappoints on arrival is worse than none.
Is my exact location shown to other members?
No. Distance is approximate and your address is never displayed. Do not add it to your profile.
Can I hide which country I am in?
Privacy controls govern what your profile displays. Options vary by plan.
Should I only talk to verified members?
That is your choice, and it is reasonable. But verification confirms a specific check, not someone's intentions: apply the same financial caution either way.
What if someone's story does not add up?
Trust that instinct. Inconsistent details, refusing video calls, unusual urgency and any request for money are all reasons to stop, block and report.
How do I know someone is really in the country they say?
You cannot know for certain. Location is self-reported, and distance is approximate by design. This is one of several reasons video calls matter.
Can I search for people planning to travel to my city?
Yes, if they have indicated travel plans. See Travel Discovery.
What if I only want to meet locally?
Set a distance radius and use nearby search. Nothing obliges you to look further.

Disclaimer
Search filters narrow results based on information members provide about themselves. They do not verify that information, assess compatibility, or guarantee that any member will respond or wish to meet. Distance is approximate by design. Verification confirms only the specific checks stated and does not confirm intentions, honesty or safety. Never send money to someone you have met online, regardless of their verification status or the reason given. Availability of features varies by country and is subject to local law.
