This page is for law enforcement and other authorities seeking information from SugarMingle Extra. It is published so that requests can be made correctly the first time, which is faster for you and fairer to the people whose data is involved.
It is not legal advice, and it does not expand or limit any obligation we have under applicable law.
Requests must come from an official address of the requesting agency and must be made through the contact page or the postal address of the operating company. Requests sent from personal accounts cannot be actioned.
Please include:
We review every request against applicable law and the rights of the person concerned, and we decline requests that are overly broad, unclear, or unsupported by proper authority. Declining a defective request is not obstruction; it protects the validity of what you do obtain.
Where there is an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm, we may disclose limited information without a formal instrument. Mark the request as an emergency, state the nature of the danger and the timeframe, and provide a contact reachable immediately. Emergency requests are prioritised above all other correspondence.
We will preserve records pending a formal request. Preservation is not disclosure: it holds material so it is not lost while the proper instrument is obtained. Ask early, because retention periods run regardless of any investigation.
Our policy is to notify a member when their information is requested, so that they may seek to protect their rights, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so or there is a clear risk that notice would endanger someone.
We cannot provide what we do not hold. We do not have the content of conversations that took place on other services, we do not have identity documents for members who never submitted them, and we do not retain records indefinitely.
