Safety Policy

Standfirst

This is the position rather than the advice. The advice is on Safety Tips.

It includes a section on what we cannot do, which is the part most platforms leave out and the part that matters most when something goes wrong.

What we commit to

Safety tools are free, permanently. Blocking, unmatching, reporting and verification are identical on every plan, free and paid. Nothing that keeps a member safe sits behind a payment, and it will not be moved there later.

Reports are confidential. We do not tell anyone that they have been reported by you, or who reported them.

We do not sell verification as safety. A badge confirms the specific check stated and nothing else, and every page that mentions verification says so rather than letting the badge imply more than it means.

We publish no success rates, member counts or response percentages, by country, by city or overall, because any such figure would be invented and people would plan around it.

Where the law makes a place unsafe to serve, we do not serve it. Three countries are currently withheld pending legal review rather than published with a warning, and the reasoning is set out in full rather than hidden.

What is never permitted

Anyone under 18. MingleExtra is for adults only. Accounts believed to belong to a minor are removed without notice and without refund, and this is the one rule with no discretion in it whatsoever.

Soliciting money from other members, in any form and for any reason, including credits, gift cards, cryptocurrency, transfers and mobile money.

Impersonation, including using another person's photographs.

Threatening to share private images or recordings.

Harassment, threats, abuse and hate speech.

Sexual content sent to someone who has not asked for it.

Commercial solicitation, including selling discounted membership or account access. There is no legitimate route to Premium other than through the platform.

Multiple accounts. One per person. Running several is a common characteristic of accounts used for fraud, which is the main reason the rule exists.

The Community Guidelines set this out in full, with the reasoning.

How enforcement works

Reports are reviewed and acted on where the guidelines have been breached. Depending on what happened, that is a warning, a restriction on the account, or removal.

Severity is weighted, not just frequency. A single report involving a minor, a threat, or a request for money is treated more seriously than repeated reports about tone.

We do not publish how detection works. Doing so would tell the people running fraudulent accounts precisely what to change. This is a deliberate trade against transparency and it is worth naming as one.

Restrictions can be appealed through the route set out in the Account Management help article.

[MODERATION STAFFING, COVERAGE AND REVIEW TIMESCALES TO BE CONFIRMED] No response time is published here because none has been confirmed, and publishing one the platform cannot meet would be worse than publishing nothing.

What we cannot do

We cannot vouch for any member. No platform can. Verification raises the cost of running fake accounts and photo verification defeats stolen photographs, which is genuinely useful and is not the same as knowing someone is safe.

We do not conduct background checks. No check offered here establishes criminal history, relationship status, finances or intentions.

We cannot recover money. If you have sent money, your bank or payment provider and your local police are the routes that can act, and contacting them quickly matters more than anything we can do.

We cannot control what happens off the platform. Once a conversation moves to another app, or to a meeting, our tools do not reach it. That is a reason to keep early conversation here and to video call before meeting.

We are not an emergency service. We cannot dispatch help, and a report is not a call to the police.

Following every rule on this site reduces risk. It does not eliminate it, and any platform telling you otherwise is selling reassurance rather than describing reality.
