Reporting

Standfirst

Reporting is free on every plan, permanently, and it is not disclosed to the person you report.

This page covers what happens after you send one, including the parts we cannot tell you.

Blocking and reporting are different

Blocking protects you. It stops that person contacting you, removes them from your discovery, and takes effect immediately.

Reporting tells us. It is what allows anything to be done about the account itself.

If someone has broken the rules, do both. Blocking alone tells us nothing, and the person remains on the platform and free to do the same thing to someone else. That is the single most common mistake people make here, and it is understandable, because blocking feels like the problem is solved. For you it is. For the next person it is not.

What to report

Anything in the Community Guidelines, and in particular:

Any request for money, in any form and for any reason, including credits, gift cards, cryptocurrency, bank transfers and mobile money. This is the most important category on the list.

Threats to share private images or recordings.

Anyone who appears to be under 18, or an account presenting a minor. This is the most serious report on the platform and it is treated that way.

Photographs that are not of the account holder, where you have reason to think so.

Harassment, abuse, threats, hate speech or sexual content sent without consent.

Anyone offering discounted membership, an upgrade, an account unlock or a verification fee. There is no legitimate route to Premium other than through the platform itself.

Anyone asking you to move to another app immediately, particularly in combination with anything above.

You do not need to report someone who was simply not for you. Unmatching is enough and nothing further is expected.

How to report

From their profile, or from the conversation. Both routes reach the same place.

Give as much detail as you can. What happened, when, and what was said. A report that says only "scammer" is harder to act on than one that says what was asked for and how.

Do not delete the conversation first. It is evidence, and deleting it removes what would be used to assess the report.

Screenshot anything you are worried about losing, particularly if money or threats are involved, and keep it somewhere other than your phone.

What happens next

The report is reviewed and action is taken where the Community Guidelines have been breached. That can mean a warning, a restriction, or removal of the account.

You will not usually be told the outcome in detail. That is partly the privacy of everyone involved, and partly that publishing how detection works tells the people running fraudulent accounts what to change. It is a genuine tension: it is unsatisfying for the person who reported, and the alternative is worse.

The account may remain visible while review is in progress. If they contact you again in the meantime, block.

[REPORT REVIEW TIMESCALES AND MODERATION COVERAGE TO BE CONFIRMED] The previous version of this page stated that reports are reviewed around the clock. That has not been confirmed against how moderation is actually staffed, and a response time should not be published until it is one the platform can meet.

What reporting cannot do

It cannot recover money. If you have sent money, contact your bank or payment provider immediately, then your local police. Speed matters more than anything else at that point, and it is a separate process from reporting here.

It cannot reach someone off the platform. If the contact has moved to another app, report it there as well.

It is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.

It cannot tell you who else reported someone, and we will not tell anyone that you reported them.

If you have been reported

A restriction usually follows a breach of the guidelines or a report. What you can do about it, including whether it can be appealed, is set out in the Account Management help article.

We do not disclose who reported you, and asking will not change that.
